Founder & Service Provider

Picture
Diana Gil, MS, LCAT, ATR-BC, in addition to being the founder of her Art Therapy private practice Evolve Through Art, she is also a Clinical Coordinator at a transitional community residence in New York City. In this capacity, she oversees this therapeutic environment where patients are assisted in stabilizing psychiatrically, learning the skills necessary to live independently, and makes referrals for suitable permanent supportive housing.

Previously, Diana functioned as a primary psychotherapist in an outpatient clinic managing a caseload that was comprised of multicultural children, adolescents, and adults with diverse mental health diagnoses.  She also has served as a Creative Arts Therapist in a MICA Continuing Day Treatment (CDT) program for individuals many of whom were homeless, in recovery, and seriously/persistently mentally ill.  During her tenure at CDT, Diana helped these individuals gain insight into their mental health condition, created opportunities for them to participate in skill development activities, and encouraged them to develop social support networks in their communities outside of service providers.

Experienced in conducting verbal, art psychotherapy, and psychoeducational sessions with individuals, families, and groups, Diana is an empathic clinician that establishes good rapport with clients and provides quality mental health services. She uses a multiculturally competent and eclectic approach in her work with clients. She is also passionate about and has successfully used the creative process plus psychotherapy to support individuals in their journey towards self-actualization, self-reflection, healing from internal conflicts/past traumas, coping with environmental stressors, and strengthening communication within families.

Diana is a specialized psychotherapist with an Art Therapy/Counseling Master's Degree from the College of New Rochelle (CNR) along with a specialization in Child Art Therapy.  She is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) in New York State and a Board Certified (BC) Registered Art Therapist (ATR) in the United States of America.  She also has a Bachelor's degree in English and Human Rights from Barnard College of Columbia University.  For continued professional development, she completed a one year post graduate certificate in Psychodynamic Approaches in Clinical Practice at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP).

Diana is a Credentialed Professional Member of:
